Gettysburg Bike WeekGettysburg Bike Week Geared Up for 2017 Rally July 6-9th

Foghat and 50 Shades of Men Two of Many Acts Booked for GBW 16th Anniversary

Press Release: Back for its 16th anniversary rally at the Allstar Events Complex in Gettysburg, PA, Gettysburg Bike Week kicks off Thursday, July 6, 2017, and runs through Sunday, July 9.

“Hard to believe this is the 16th year, but you know what they say about time flying and having fun,” said GBW event coordinator Kelly Shue.

This year, GBW is proud to feature English rock band Foghat and premier male revue 50 Shades of Men among this year’s entertainment slate. Both acts perform Friday night. Formed in England in the early 1970s, Foghat has sold millions of records and rocked audiences for decades. Known for their distinctive slide guitar sound and boogie woogie rhythms, Foghat continues to bombard FM airwaves to this day with classic rockers like “Slow Ride,” “Fool for the City” and their hard swinging version of Willie Dixon’s blues banger “I Just Want To Make Love To You.” You can’t help but shake what you got when Foghat hits the stage.

Gettysburg Bike WeekAnd for the ladies, GBW is happy to welcome the best male burlesque show in the country. Composed of national and international touring Chippendales past members, 50 Shades of Men is the premier male revue performing today, delighting women everywhere with “disarmingly sexy, yet very tasteful routines. Designed exclusively for women [they] combine a perfect blend of music, hot dance moves and sensual theatrics,” and the ladies are sure to love it.

Other top-flight music acts for this year’s rally include the Hank Williams, Jr., tribute band All My Rowdy Friends and country music sensation Craig Campbell; both play the Budweiser Main Stage on Thursday night. And on Saturday evening, Blizzard of Ozzy, the country’s preeminent Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne tribute band, and 80s hard rockers Warrant will be bringing it to the people.

And of course that’s just the tip of the entertainment iceberg, because legendary emcee Jack Schitt is back again to perform master of ceremonies duties throughout the week on the Budweiser Stage, Gin Gypsies will be slinging the drinks, and this year’s rally will feature a cornhole tournament (directed by York Adams Cornhole). Expect performances by the International Bikini Team as well, heavy competition in the Cycle Source Ride-In Bike Show, Ride and Rodeo; the Parade of Chrome; and that perennial crowd-pleaser, the GBW wet T-shirt contest. One, two and four-day passes are available here.

And, of course, no rally would be complete without great riding, and Gettysburg has some of the best. Whether riders want to see historic battlegrounds or just hit the road for a great cruise, hundreds of miles of the best riding in the East surrounds Gettysburg. In addition to fantastic solo riding, GBW also features awesome group rides and the Pink Journey of Lights and Stars of Hope Charity Rides.

Pricing for Gettysburg Bike Week is as follows:

  • $40 per-person 4-day passes, available online and at the gates.
  • $25 per-person 2-day passes, available online and at the gates.
  • $15 per-person 1-day passes, available online and at the gates.

The Best Party Anywhere! will kick off with some hell-raising grooves and monstrous vocals.

Press Release: The two heavy metal bands chosen to open the Wolfman Jack Stage at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip on Friday, Aug. 4 have reputations for presenting shows burning with fiery musical adrenaline. Trapt, an alternative metal band with a heavy hit and seven albums on their resume, will open for Drowning Pool, a platinum-plus band that promises to deliver some aggressive heavy rock. The performances will ignite fans looking to kick off the rally with a blazing-hot concert. See the band announcement video and find more info by visiting www.BuffaloChip.com/BANDS.

Brazenly defiant, Drowning Pool’s first album, Sinner, was certified platinum within six weeks of its release. A number of songs from the album have been featured at various WWF events, including Tear Away and Bodies. Each of the band’s last three albums has debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hard Rock chart.

Drowning PoolTrapt has produced seven studio albums and is best known for its scorching-hot hit Headstrong. The song rocketed to the number one spot on both Billboard’s Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts and peaked at No. 4 on the Top 40 chart. Headstrong was rated the No. 1 alternative song and No. 8 rock song of the decade of the 2000s by Billboard. The song has been featured in numerous video games and movies including the Bruce Willis film Tears of the Sun.

“These two bands have some real muscular power over heavy metal,” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “We’re opening 2017 with bands that will deliver a distinctive musical crunch and ignite the audience to sing along with their powerful hits. This is only the first of nine nights of spectacular rock performances that include the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Blink-182. You won’t find this kind of line-up anywhere else.”

Part cirque and part burlesque, The Flaunt Girls will take the stage prior to the bands’ Friday performances. The Dirt Riot Off-Road Race trials taking place that same day at the Buffalo Chip’s PowerSports Complex located across Alkali Road, will be free to the public on Friday.

As the largest and most easily accessed concert and camping venue east of Sturgis, concert attendees not already camping at the Buffalo Chip will be able to access the free parking area at the east gate, about 5 miles from exit 37 on I-90. Read More

Indian Motorcycle Pays Tribute To The 50th Anniversary Of Burt Munro’s Historic Land Speed Record

“The World’s Fastest Indian” to be Memorialized with 2017 Bonneville Land Speed Record Attempt by Munro’s Nephew

Press Release: It’s been 50 years since Burt Munro took his Indian Scout Streamliner to the Bonneville Salt Flats and made history – a story immortalized by the feature film, The World’s Fastest Indian, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins. As a result, Munro’s legacy transcends motorcycles and symbolizes the much broader drive to push beyond conventional limitations to experience or achieve what is seemingly impossible. Burt Munro is now a household name among “gear heads” across the globe and the ultimate example of the gritty, adrenaline-fueled pastime of expanding the limits of speed at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Munro’s iconic land speed record, Indian Motorcycle is teaming up with Kiwi road racer Lee Munro, Burt Munro’s great nephew, to recreate the historic run at Bonneville on August 13.

“Motorcycling is about shedding boundaries and limitations to go beyond the norm, and there is no better example of that than Burt Munro,” said Reid Wilson, Indian Motorcycle Marketing Director. “Driven by unparalleled determination and a legendary passion for the pursuit, Burt Munro embodies the spirit of Indian Motorcycle, and we couldn’t be prouder to honor his legacy with an updated version of his historic record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in August.”

For the updated record attempt, Lee Munro will pilot a modern Indian Scout with a powertrain modified by the Indian Motorcycle engineering team in an effort to become the world’s fastest modern Indian motorcycle.  The attempt will not break Burt’s record, but instead will honor his storied legacy in the world of motorcycling.  Fueled by their own ambition to push beyond boundaries, Indian’s team of engineers volunteered to be a part of this historic attempt, working on the project “after hours.” The team will undergo several test runs in El Mirage, Calif. before Lee Munro takes to the Salt Flats of Bonneville.

“My uncle Burt was a significant inspiration for my own racing career, and his appetite for speed is clearly a part of my DNA” said Lee Munro, the grandson of Burt’s first cousin. “What Indian Motorcycle is doing is fantastic, and I couldn’t be prouder to partner with them and pilot my own Scout at Bonneville in honor of my Uncle and the 50th anniversary of his historic record.”

Born and raised in Invercargill, New Zealand, the same town as his great uncle Burt, Lee Munro first began his life on two wheels via the high-adrenaline sport of downhill mountain biking. After winning many local races, even finishing fifth in the 2002 New Zealand Championship, Lee entered into motorcycle road racing. He won his first race and captured numerous titles on every road and street race circuit in the South Island of New Zealand. With plans to race the Isle of Man, Lee attended the Manx GP in 2016 to gain knowledge of the track and better prepare himself. Most recently, Lee won the vintage class at the Methven Street Races earlier this year on a 1941 Indian motorcycle.

Free ShootingSilencerCo Quiet Riot to Offer Free Shooting at Sturgis Buffalo Chip

First-time shooters and experts are invited to come and learn to shoot suppressed firearms in a safe and fun environment.

Press Release:  Visitors to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip this August will be offered the opportunity to shoot some impressive firearms, all sporting SilencerCo suppressors. The Quiet Riot event is open and free to the public but shooters are encouraged to register for an appointment as space is limited and the two-day event is expected to fill quickly. The Quiet Riot will take place Sunday, Aug. 6 and Monday, Aug. 7 at the Buffalo Chip’s shooting range near the east gate. Anyone interested may sign up for a shooting time HERE

All costs associated with shooting will be handled by SilencerCo. Company experts and range officers will be on hand to teach shooters how to handle and shoot the firearms safely.

Free Shooting

In addition to the Maxim 9, you’ll also have the opportunity to shoot an array of other firearms, including suppressed shotguns and fully automatics. Everything you need to shoot is included, even ammunition! The Buffalo Chip Gun Range is located across 132nd Avenue at the east end of the Buffalo Chip Campground. Appointments are available 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 and Monday, Aug. 7.

“Our main goal is to educate the public on suppressors and firearms in general,” says SilencerCo Events Coordinator Chris Conran. “We feel the motorcycle industry loves guns almost as much as we do, and can really take advantage of the many benefits a suppressor offers.”

Quiet Riot shooters are invited to be some of the first to test out SilencerCo’s newly-released Maxim 9, the world’s first integrally suppressed 9mm handgun.  After years of research and development, the gun will be available for order for the first time in 2017’s second quarter.

“SilencerCo is offering the public a rare opportunity; free shooting of some very sophisticated suppressed firearms,” said Rod Woodruff, Sturgis Buffalo Chip President. “Not only is it free but they are offering to let people shoot a new gun that hasn’t even been released yet. We’re thrilled to have them at the Chip’s shooting range.”

In addition to the Maxim 9, SilencerCo carries a wide range of suppressors for everything from .22 rimfire guns to .45/70 Government rounds. Their suppressors dramatically decrease the decibel noise and recoil of guns. Everyone from the casual shooter to big-game hunter can benefit from the suppressors SilencerCo has to offer.

About SilencerCo:
Born and bred in the land of the free, SilencerCo started life when two men in a garage machined, welded, and shaped their dreams into reality. They had one core belief: Guns don’t have to be loud. Now in our ninth year of existence, SilencerCo makes more silencers than anyone else in the market and has created the most revolutionary product to hit the market in recent memory – the Maxim 9 integrally suppressed 9mm pistol. We set the bar high for quality and innovation because in the end, that’s all that matters.

Old Iron – Young Blood

Old Iron – Young BloodSturgis Buffalo Chip 2017 Motorcycles as Art Exhibit “Old Iron – Young Blood” Draws Next Generation of Motorcycling’s Masters

A new generation is shaping the industry, and they are ready to show what they can do.

Press Release: An incredible group of young builders and artists who have been inspired by the iron stylings of previous generations will be creating new works that reflect the attitude and attributes of the present in the Buffalo Chip’s 2017 Motorcycles as Art exhibit, “Old Iron/Young Blood; Motorcycles and the Next-Gen,” curated by famed motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter. Forty builders under 36 years of age have accepted the challenge to build a custom masterpiece especially for this exhibit, each of which will be displayed atop elevated pedestals and lit with theater lights to better give guests an open view from every angle. The exhibition is free to the public and open in the Buffalo Chip’s Event Center 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 11. More information can be found at MotorcyclesAsArt.com.

Old Iron – Young BloodCreating an exhibition themed around the next generation of builders and bikes ensures an incredibly diverse offering, from cafes to street trackers to old school choppers and modern customs. Some builders, such as Matt Olsen, Matt Walksler, Zach Johnson and Zach Ness, grew up in their own family’s motorcycle businesses, while others came into building when they were older, eventually starting their own commercial shops. Still others have day jobs and work on their bikes in home garages in what waking hours they have left.

“The 40 builders and 14 two-dimensional artists will come together as 53 creatives to examine just what this generation is interested in, what they are capable of and what is coming around the bend,” said exhibit curator Michael Lichter. “In addition to an age limit on the builder, each bike must be a new build completed within a few months of the show opening and many of the bikes will be ‘unveiled’ for the first time at the exhibition.”

Old Iron – Young BloodThroughout the history of motorcycle customization, one can see that individual artists draw inspiration from his or her most impressionable moments, experiences which often mark both the timeline of their lives and of an entire generation. The old iron that returning veterans of the ‘40s twisted, stretched and chopped echoed the frustrations of a generation of GIs who were ravaged by war and yearned to be free. Today’s young bloods are creating bikes that are inspired by old iron, yet reflect the more calculated interests and accessible technology of the present. Though many define this generation as “Millennials,” the burgeoning masters of the motorcycle industry displaying their work in this exhibit have broken any constraints or negative stereotypes associated with the term.

Old Iron – Young Blood“Michael has again put together an exhibit that explores the changing landscape of the motorcycle culture in a way that only the world’s leading motorcycle photographer could reveal,” said Rod Woodruff, Sturgis Buffalo Chip President. “We are witnessing the birth of a new generation of talent, the up-and-coming masters of an art. This exhibit offers the chance to simultaneously see the wave of the future and the influence of the past, an opportunity no biker should miss.”

3rd Invitational Why We Ride to The Quail

Why We Ride3rd Invitational Why We Ride to The Quail Raising Much-needed Funds for Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation

Scenic Motorcycle Tour for Charity Set for May 4–6

The “Why We Ride” film, released in 2013 has become the #1 motorcycle movie in America because it is a story about who we are. It told the stories of individuals with a desire to dream, to discover and to explore. The movie hit an emotional nerve with riders and it has spawned an entire social movement within the industry. Director, Producer Bryan H. Carroll and Producer James Walker decided they needed to do something with this passion group of fans and out of that brainstorm came  Why We Ride MOTOvational Events. The 3rd Invitational WHY WE RIDE to the Quail is the largest annual charity event and will take place May 4, 5 and 6. The ride begins in Moorpark and heads to picturesque Pismo Beach, CA, moves up into the wooded hillsides and gorgeous valleys of Paso Robles wine country, following the Carmel River along the most seductive canyon road in California, and arriving at the beaches of Monterey in time for The Quail Motorcycle Gathering. All proceeds go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Why We Ride“Three years ago we thought we would attract only ‘motorcycle people’ on the ride ,” says Bryan Carroll, producer of Why We Ride Films, organizers of the event. “Quickly we realized that like the movie, our audience was really people who ride motorcycles, which is a very different approach and made a huge difference. That approach expanded our sponsor base, and is responsible for an bigger ride this year – and being able to contribute more to our charity. I’m proud of our team for seeing our potential for good, and pushing harder every year.”

That huge difference is resulting in people of all stripes with a common love of motorcycle riding coming together and taking part. Of course, everyone loves a good cause, but the diversity of sponsors and participants really illustrates how the Hollywood and motorcycling communities have united to benefit those in need, namely children with serious medical issues. A combination of top motorcycle and riding accessories manufacturers have joined with the biggest and best equipment makers and creative service providers in Hollywood, and the unique nature of the 3-day ride (the only one of its kind) allows companies to demo products along the way.

“One of the reasons we have multiple OEMs sponsoring us is because this is about why we ride not what we ride,” says Carroll. “I wanted to bring my two passions to this ride, which is making movies and anything with an engine in it, and this year’s sponsors have captured that.”

Participants in the charity ride enjoy a bevy of perks (in addition to the awesome ride), including cocktails and vittles at the WWR Riders Dinner, gift bags, special guest speakers and VIP access to The Quail Motorcycle Gathering, including private ride to the event, exclusive parking and private lounge access.

Top rockers with pockets full of hits will set the stage on fire for the Prince of Darkness on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Press Release: What already was shaping up to be an unforgettable day at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip has now become the hottest ticket in town, as the venue has secured chart-topping hard rock band Pop Evil to open for Ozzy Osbourne on its main stage Aug. 9. This addition rounds out a jam-packed day of entertainment that begins in the afternoon with the thunder of hopped-up machines in the Street Drag Invitational with Crazy John followed by the adrenaline of Roland Sands Design’s Super Hooligan Races presented by Indian Motorcycle. More info at www.BuffaloChip.com/PopEvil

Pop Evil has been pounding its way up the charts and into the hearts of fans ever since the band strapped on guitars and started writing songs in 2001. Touring with some of the biggest names in music, their songs such as Footsteps, Trenches and Deal with the Devil have been heard around the world and on TV in association with events such as NFL, NHL and NASCAR.

“Pairing Pop Evil with Ozzy Osbourne, the street drags and the Super Hooligan Races on Wednesday is packaging a perfect day at the rally,” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “Nobody should miss this rare opportunity for a day filled with non-stop racing action, stunts and events, and these incredible, world-class, megastar musicians all for one pass.”

Ozzy OsbourneOzzy Osbourne Choses to Perform at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip in 2017

Heavy metal royalty to grace fans with unforgettable performance on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

There is only one Ozzy Osbourne, a multi-platinum recording artist, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, founding member of Black Sabbath and Ozzfest, known to worshipers worldwide as the Godfather of Heavy Metal. On Wednesday, Aug. 9 he will be astonishing fans at The Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling on the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s Wolfman Jack Stage. Osbourne chose to perform at the hub of the rally, the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, as one of just a handful of shows on his first solo U.S. tour in six years. See the official band announcement video by clicking here.

“You never know what to expect with Ozzy, but you can be sure it will be over the top.” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “He puts on an incredible show and this is one of those performances you just can’t miss. You may not have another opportunity to see the legendary Ozzy Osbourne live on stage. I wonder if he’s still biting the heads off bats?”

Osbourne’s music is as relevant today as it was four decades ago when he joined Black Sabbath. Since the 1979 release of his first solo album, “Blizzard of Ozz” and subsequent “Diary of a Madman,” Osbourne has continued to amaze fans with his heavy metal wizardry. In June 2013, after more than three decades of waiting, original Black Sabbath members released their critically acclaimed album “13,” which entered the charts at no. 1 in 13 countries. In 2014, the group won a GRAMMY Award in the Best Metal category for the single “God is Dead?” Later that year Ozzy was presented with the “Global Icon” award at the 2014 Europe Music Awards in Glasgow.

As the largest and most easily accessed concert and camping venue east of Sturgis, concert attendees not already camping at the Buffalo Chip will be able to access the free parking area at the east gate, about 5 miles from exit 37 on I-90. Passes purchased for Wednesday, Aug. 9 include the Roland Sands Design Super Hooligan races presented by Indian Motorcycle and the Buffalo Chip Street Drag Invitational with Crazy John both taking place in the Chip’s amphitheater that afternoon. “Young Blood/Old Iron”, the 2017 Motorcycles as Art exhibit curated by Michael Lichter will be open and free to the public. Adventure to SturgisIndian Motorcycle & Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis Announces Third Annual Motorcycle Therapy Adventure to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Nomination Program to Award Post-9/11 Veterans With Epic Adventure via “Hero’s Ride of a Lifetime”

Indian Motorcycle, America’s First Motorcycle Company, has again joined forces with “Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis,” a nine-day journey that provides veterans a chance to use motorcycle therapy as a way to decompress from the challenges of post-war life. Through the “Hero’s Ride of a Lifetime” program, well deserving veteran heroes can be nominated to join the ride from now until May 21.

Rolling out of Los Angeles on July 28 on Indian motorcycles, trikes and Champion Sidecars, the ride provides participating veterans the opportunity to work toward overcoming their post-war challenges while out on the open road. Riding through the most scenic back roads of the western United States, veterans will not only experience the great outdoors and the beauty this country has to offer, but also make stops to meet with other veterans, supporters, riders, and participate in various adjacent adventures. Upon arrival in Sturgis on August 5, the group will be treated to a special “Heroes Welcome” before taking part in a week of activities that further solidify the brotherhood and sisterhood formed during the ride.

Adventure to Sturgis“We’ll spend over a week riding on America’s most beautiful roads, getting to know each other and helping each other through Motorcycle Therapy,” said David Frey, Veterans Charity Ride Founder. “The shared experience of serving brings us together, veteran to veteran, to help each other heal.”

Twenty deserving veterans and veteran mentors will join the Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis in 2017. Additionally, organizers are offering two post-9/11 veteran heroes the chance to participate in the ride via the Hero’s Ride of a Lifetime program, which enables the public to nominate these two veterans. One space will be given to an ambulatory veteran motorcycle rider (proof of motorcycle license endorsement and sufficient riding experience required) and the other space will be given to a severely wounded or amputee veteran to ride as a sidecar passenger (no motorcycle experience required). Submissions are now being accepted online (here) with the selections to be announced July 4.

The Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis was conceived and developed by veteran Army Paratrooper Dave Frey and Emmy Award-winning producer and director Robert Manciero of Full Vision Productions, leveraging the therapeutic effects of motorcycle riding to create an adventure of a lifetime for wounded veterans.

Adventure to SturgisPrimary sponsors of the Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis include Indian Motorcycle and Champion Sidecars & Trikes, with additional sponsorship and support provided by Monster Energy Drink, Cycle Gear, Nordic Components, Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, and the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

“Indian Motorcycle has been a proud supporter of the Armed Forces dating back to its role as a military supplier during WWI,” said Reid Wilson, Indian Motorcycle Marketing Director. “It’s an honor to give back to our military veterans through our relationship with the Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis and the incredible experience this ride provides.”

“Supporting our veterans by donating sidecars to accommodate amputee veterans in a safe, comfortable manner is something near and dear to our team and to me personally,” said Craig Arrojo, President of Champion Sidecars. “We are honored to be associated with such a worthy event, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Veterans Charity Ride for years to come.”

KuryakynKuryakyn, Sturgis Buffalo Chip Debut Signature Build At Donnie Smith Bike & Car Show

Kuryakyn and the Sturgis Buffalo Chip kicked off the Midwest’s biggest bike show with a bang, debuting the 2017 Rock, Rumble & Rebellion signature build in front of a packed house at the 30th annual Donnie Smith Bike & Car Show.

Representing seven days of electrifying racing in August at the Buffalo Chip Moto Stampede, the sleek, industrial appearance of the 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide strikes a balance of refinement and straight-up rawness.

“As an aftermarket company, we were honored to take on the challenge of representing the Buffalo Chip’s 35th anniversary last year with a bike build,” said Holger Mohr, Kuryakyn President. “As enthusiasts first and foremost, this year’s focus of bringing racing back to the Chip is equally exciting for us. The Kuryakyn design team came up with an authentic race theme that truly embodies the ‘rumble’ in Rock, Rumble and Rebellion. There’s no better way to introduce our newest products to core Kuryakyn customers, and we’re proud to do it alongside the Buffalo Chip on the biggest stage in the motorcycle industry.”Kuryakyn

One of the main focal points on the purpose-built bagger is the freshly reimagined Hypercharger ES air cleaner. Symbolizing the evolution of one of Kuryakyn’s most iconic products, the Hypercharger ES features a radical new design with state-of-the-art electronic throttle response butterfly engagement. The integrated servomotor actuates the butterflies with every twist of the throttle, creating an interactive experience with the motorcycle that’s unlike anything available.

Additionally, more than 35 Kuryakyn accessories are featured on the build including select pieces from the new Mesh and Riot collections, as well as the soon-to-be-released Precision line of engine chrome for the Milwaukee-Eight. Renowned custom shop Gilby’s Street Dept. of River Falls, Wis., laid down a monochromatic race-inspired paint theme that marries everything together to create a cohesive push-pull of mechanical grit and class. Blink-182Blink-182 to Rock Sturgis Buffalo Chip August Music Festival with Reckless Abandon

Party All Night with the Kings of the Weekend

Fall in love with an energy-jammed rock show the likes of which is rarely seen when Blink-182 takes over the Sturgis Buffalo Chip on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017. The California-based punk rock megastars’ show will follow Doug Danger’s Rattlesnake Jump and the George Thorogood concert during the Chip’s Freedom Celebration day, culminating a day filled with monumental events to create an experience that’ll have you saying, “I’m feeling this!”

Blink-182 is a band whose body of material masterfully blends the arts of crafting an unforgettable earworm and serving it up with a zany sense of humor. Monster hit songs like “All the Small Things,” “What’s My Age Again,” “First Date,” “The Rock Show” and “Dammit” exemplify this formula, keeping you laughing and rocking your ass off simultaneously. Conversely, tunes like “I Miss You,” “Adam’s Song,” and “Always” show you the band’s ability to stretch out musically and lyrically into more somber subject matter and experimental instrumentation. It’s this range of musicality that’s propelled the band’s album sales to over 50 million worldwide and contributed to their 2016 release, “California,” to be nominated for the 2017 Best Rock Album Grammy.

The Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling will flip the party into overdrive with Blink-182’s pop punk power. Are you ready to rage at this show? Reserve your passes today!

Yaffe_Through_The_YearsPaul Yaffe Celebrates 25 Years of Custom Motorcycle Building at Arizona Bike Week with Yaffe Through the Years Exhibition

A retrospective exhibit celebrating legendary custom motorcycle builder Paul Yaffe’s storied career will be on display at the Legends Pavilion for the duration of Arizona Bike Week 2017. Yaffe Through the Years, presented by Chuck Franklin Law, will showcase some of the most spectacular bikes and parts that Paul Yaffe has created during 25 years in the bike building and custom parts business.

“It all started with a love of motorcycles and a curiosity and desire to see what could be made of them,” says Paul. “I never would have guessed, when I first started experimenting in the mid eighties, that it would lead to where we are today.”

An amazing collection of some of Paul’s most memorable custom creations will be on display. Close to twenty motorcycles will provide a visual representation of the evolution of Paul’s career, from choppers to baggers to pro-streets, including both Discovery bikes (Phantom and Suzy-Q), Prodigy and Whitey (the bike he gave his bride her first ride on).

“We did a similar event as part of my birthday celebration late last year,” says Paul. “But we’ve expanded the concept, added about twice as many bikes, more photos, artwork and memorabilia. Plus, it will be really special to hold the event here in Phoenix, where I opened my first shop so many years ago.”

That first shop was American Legend Motorcycle Co., which opened in 1991. Since then, Paul has enjoyed one of the most illustrious and influential careers in motorcycle designing and building. Today, Paul Yaffe’s Bagger Nation, together with Paul Yaffe Originals, is recognized as one of—if not the—preeminent custom bike building outfits.

Rally goers attending Arizona Bike Week are encouraged to swing by the Pavilion and see firsthand and up close the beauty and power of Paul Yaffe’s metal masterpieces. Yaffe Through the Years is sponsored by Chuck Franklin LawPaul Yaffe’s Bagger NationMorongo Casino Resort and Spa and Arizona Bike Week.

On a dusty summer day in 1938, local Indian motorcycle dealer J.C. Hoel set the wheels of history in motion when he promoted a flat track race at the Sturgis Fairgrounds. History comes full circle this year as the Pappy Hoel Speed Classic returns to the same historic dir
t track where it all began. The event set for August 3-5, 2017 in downtown Sturgis kicks off a full week of racing during this year’s Rally.

Pappy Hoel

Pappy Hoel

“For Sturgis Rally founder J.C. ‘Pappy’ Hoel, the focus for the Rally was always on racing,” says Tigra Tsujikawa, Marketing & Development Director for the Sturgis Museum & Hall Of Fame. “From Johnny Spiegelhoff’s win on an Indian back in 1938 until today, flat track is an integral part of Sturgis history. We are honored to partner with the White Plate Motorcycle Club and Steve Nace Racing Promotions to present The Pappy Hoel Speed Classic, sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association.”

A full slate of racing with top Professional, Amateur and Vintage classes will be at the Sturgis Fairgrounds. As a three-time AMA Track Racing Organizer of the Year, Steve Nace Racing Promotions strives for perfection. “The objective of the AMA All-Star Series is to bring a professional show… we are known for having great tracks and rider safety is always our number one concern,” says Nace.

In 1938, the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club – coincidently founded by “Pappy” as the father of the Rally was affectionately known by racers and Rally goers alike – hosted a Gypsy Tour through South Dakota’s majestic Black Hills. The first “Black Hills Motor Classic” brought out 200 participants. Pappy and his wife, Pearl, provided camping behind their shop on Junction Avenue. “Weenies, Sloppy Joes, potato salad and watermelon for dessert, is what Pearl and the other Gypsies ladies served that first year,” says Tsujikawa. The riders washed their free meal down with iced tea or coffee, served in a tent behind the Hoel’s garage.

“The Pappy Hoel Speed Classic is the perfect way to start the 77th Sturgis Rally, but it is only part of the program,” she notes. Displays, entertainment, swap meet and more are being hosted by the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum throughout the week, culminating with the Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony presented by Strider Sports. “However, just like Pappy Hoel envisioned back in 1938, flat track racing is the focal point that brings it all together as we have come full circle.”

The Induction is being held August 9th at the Lodge at Deadwood in Deadwood, South Dakota. Breakfast tickets are available for a $45 donation, tables of eight for $350. Tickets are available by calling the Museum at 605.347.2001.

Fox-Run-MainThe Fox Run Story

By Leticia Cline
For Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys

It’s in our DNA to be part of a tribe, and back in our cave days, tribal culture was necessary for survival. Today we need it to be able to culturally grow. We constantly are searching for a connection to others to fulfill that sense of belonging. Every single one of us craves the feeling of being part of something bigger than ourselves but over time we have become disconnected from our tribe. When you are in a subculture you need that connection even more when you are a minority inside of a subculture.

We have a women’s movement upon us with no signs of slowing down. Sure, women have been riding motorcycles since motorcycles were created — but today women are the fastest growing segment in the industry. With any uprising there is a need to meet and support the cause, to connect with other like—minded people and to celebrate the dichotomy of freedom and unity.

Fox-Run-3-newOne of those gatherings is The Fox Run. An east coast camping and riding event geared towards women and all things two wheels. I have to be honest and admit that I have never been to a gathering of ladies like this, mostly because of my crazy scheduling but I want to know what drives these events and why they are so successful. So I sat down with Lucy Sarah, founder and one of the seven women who make it all happen, to ask her some questions and find out more. I ended up leaving with a new date scheduled on my events calendar for 2017 and an even greater appreciation for women riders.

With its roots in Southern California motorcycle culture, today’s flat track hooligan racing category is rapidly gaining in popularity with riders of all ages and experience levels across the nation by offering the fun of motorcycle competition in a less structured environment. Combining the craft of custom motorcycles and racing the Super Hooligan rules are loose and limit the bikes to 750CC and up twins in stock frames with dirt track tires and no front brakes.

The “thrills and spills” of Street Bike Flat Track Racing, with the 2017 Super Hooligan National Championship Series (SHNC) sponsored by Indian Motorcycle, is off to a great start. We kicked the series off with The 1 Pro in Salem, OR followed by Mama Tried’s Flat Out Friday in Milwaukee, WI. Couldn’t make the events? We’ve got you covered. Check out the recap below and the current SHNC Points Standings attached.

Round 1: The 1 Pro – Salem, Oregon

In association with the annual The 1 Moto Show custom motorcycle show in Portland, The 1 Pro flat track races commenced once again upon the 1/10th mile banked clay oval at Salem Indoor Speedway on Sunday. 1) Sammy Halbert #69 on a RSD Indian Scout, (2) Brad Spencer #7 from San Jose on his Sportster and (3) Andy DiBrino #14 from Portland piloting the See See Motorcycles XG750 made up the field and fought bar-to-bar, putting on a show for the spectators. Everyone was on the edge of their seats watching what was one of the best Super Hooligan races to date. (Click here for the full story)

Round 2: Mama Tried’s Flat Out Friday – Milwaukee, WI

Grassroots racing gets sticky and brings out over 10,000 fans to watch a bunch of motorcycles turn left and beat themselves up for bragging rights at the biannual Flat Out Friday races. This indoor Dr. Pepper syrup soaked oval concrete track is in the heart of blue collar America, Milwaukee, at The BMO Harris Bradley Center. It was Benny Carlson (#45) who took home the top spot aboard his XR1200, with some serious bar banging action to keep it up front against Andy DiBrino (#14) XG750 and Terry Vestal (#27) Sportster. (Click here for the full story)

NEXT UP: Round 3: AFT Atlanta Short Track – Woodstock, GA

The next round takes place March 25th in conjunction with American Flat Track on a 3/8-mile banked red clay oval at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. “Uncle Kracker” to Perform at Las Vegas BikeFest

Uncle Kracker“Uncle Kracker” to Perform Live, Saturday Night at 2017 Las Vegas BikeFest

Las Vegas BikeFest will go public March 1st announcing that American musician, singer and songwriter Uncle Kracker will play live at this year’s Las Vegas BikeFest on Saturday, October 7.

Before Uncle Kracker flew up the charts to #1 with “When the Sun Goes Down,” a duet with good friend Kenny Chesney, country music might’ve seemed an odd place to find the Detroit-based good-time Kid Rock alumni. But after a few summer tours with Chesney, the Top 10 “Smile,” and a pure country album produced by Keith Stegall, nobody doubts this feel-good rocker is exactly where he should be. Uncle Kracker’s deep melodies and sense of what the heartland means has made him a perfect fit in today’s post-rural realm of country music.

Initially known for his role as DJ in Kid Rock’s legendary Twisted Brown Trucker band, Uncle Kracker soon kicked off a stunning solo career of his own. The singer/songwriter made his solo debut with 2001’s #1 smash, “Follow Me,” kicking off a run of top 10 multi-format hits like “In A Little While,” “Smile,” and of course, 2003’s cover of Dobie Gray’s classic “Drift Away” which set a Billboard record for most weeks at #1 on any chart, topping their #1 run on the Adult Contemporary radio charts for a staggering 28 weeks.

Uncle Kracker is still having a blast playing sold out shows across the country, and fans undoubtedly will too when they see him on the road. His live show continues to get bigger and better with every tour. “It’s very interactive,” he says. “It’s meant to be a party, and I want everybody involved. Each time we go on stage, I want people to leave smiling.”

“We are very excited to have Uncle Kracker as our headline entertainment for this year’s rally. Whether he is singing a classic like “Drift Away” or his upbeat song, “Smile”, we know rally goers of all ages will enjoy the show,” states Mindi Cherry, Event Manager.

About Las Vegas BikeFest
The 17th annual Las Vegas BikeFest will be held October 5 – 8, 2017 in the heart of downtown Las Vegas on Fremont East. The One Motorcycle ShowThe One Motorcycle Show 2017

By Alicia Mariah Elfving

For Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys

While it may not be the biggest custom motorcycle show in the country, it’s certainly one of the very best. The eighth annual One Motorcycle Show took place in Portland last weekend, featuring over 100 custom bikes from across the continent. Presented by See See and Harley-Davidson, the huge two story industrial building and lot was filled with art, bikes, food trucks, live music, and every type of motorcyclist imaginable.

In February of 2009, the crew at See See, a cafe and motorcycle shop in Portland, decided they wanted to start an event that went beyond the average motorcycle show. As their shop was buying cheap piles and turning them into fun, functional, and good looking machines on a budget, they decided there needed to be a place where pristine show bikes and budget builds could come together and bump tires.

The One Motorcycle ShowThe One Motorcycle Show was born.

If you could only have one motorcycle for the rest of your life… what would it be? The answer to some is a souped-up sport bike, to others a classic chopper that looks like it rolled right through time and space from the 1970s. There are no qualifying rules for motorcycles in the show; each year See See hand chooses 80+ builders with personal invitations. Big name companies like Roland Sands show off their most recent works, hobbyists bring their restorations and tinkerings, mad scientists display their rolling art… it’s absolutely a one of a kind experience with something for everyone.

The SOS debut race features twenty daredevil motorcycle racers and will run Saturday, March 18, 2017, at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida. The Grand Prize is a brand new shovelhead motor donated by S&S Cycle.

“There has been so much enthusiasm from fans and potential participants since we first announced the concept,” said Billy Lane, renowned bike builder and founder of Sons of Speed. “Now the date’s set, tickets are selling fast, we have a full slate of riders and we can’t wait for March.”

Held at New Smyrna Speedway’s half-mile, banked racetrack, the inaugural race will feature twenty riders in several different heats, and winners of the heats will advance to a championship round. Each racer will sit astride identical hand-built racing chassis holding pre-1925 1,000cc American V-Twin engines, and most racers will customize their machines by fabricating handlebars, exhaust, fenders, foot pegs and fuel/oil tanks.Sons Of Speed Inaugural Race

About Sons Of Speed

MamaTried24th Annual Mama Tried Motorcycle Show to Feature More Than 100 Custom Bikes

Thousands expected in Milwaukee for a weekend including indoor flat track race, curated invitational show, Harley-Davidson Museum Pre-Party and Lakefront Ice Riding

The Mama Tried Motorcycle Show, presented by Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, announced today that it will hold its fourth annual exhibition Feb. 17-19 in Milwaukee, bringing thousands to the city in the dead of winter. The show will feature a full weekend of events, including the second annual Flat Out Friday indoor flat track motorcycle race, the Mama Tried Motorcycle Invitational with a special pre-party hosted by the Harley-Davidson Museum, and Slippery Sunday, an ice-riding competition on the Milwaukee Lakefront.

Flat Out Friday, will kick off the weekend at 7:00 p.m. Feb. 17 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. More than 220 racers will compete in 11 classes ranging from amateur and professional to vintage, youth and hooligan. Racing on a flat track oval covered in Dr. Pepper syrup for traction, registered riders include flat track pro racer Jerad Mees, Hooligan riders Carey Hart and Mark “Rusty Butcher” Atkins and Milwaukee native Loyal Prach in the youth class. Special highlights will include an honor ride by the Milwaukee Police Department and Milwaukee-area veterans and the Charlotte Kainz Memorial Pro Race.

MamaTried3Immediately following Flat Out Friday, the Harley-Davidson Museum will host a Mama Tried pre-party featuring live music and refreshments. There will be a shuttle service to and from the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The Mama Tried Invitational main event will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 18 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the Lindsay Building on South Second Street. The event showcases more than 150 motorcycles in a gallery-style setting, focused primarily on submissions from the Midwest. This year’s builder list features builds from Michael Lange, Scott T-Bone Jones, Louie Lauters, Keino Sasaki and Chase Stopnik.

The Slippery Sunday ice-riding competition will conclude the weekend. It will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 19 at McKinley Marina on Milwaukee’s Lakefront, pending weather and ice conditions.

MamaTried1The show and weekend of events are the brainchild of Scott Johnson of Fuel Café and Mojofuco Restaurants, Warren Heir of JRS Custom Fabrication and Jeremy Prach of Prach Promotions LLC embodying their cumulative lifelong experiences racing and riding in the Wisconsin motorcycle scene.

“When we started looking, we found so many great Midwestern bikes and builders that never get showcased,” explains Johnson. “Each of the last three years, we’ve been blown away by the level of enthusiasm to participate in, and to attend, a show in the dead of winter. We are especially excited for our second year of Flat Out Friday in Milwaukee, which previously hadn’t hosted an indoor race since 1980.”

“We’re really trying to bring together all types of motorcyclists and enthusiasts to reveal the tremendous cross-pollination of riding in Wisconsin,” Heir continued. “It’s amazing to see the excitement from people of all walks of life for this show and for the Flat Out Friday races.”

Last year, more than 9,000 attended the two-day show and more than 7,200 started the weekend off at last year’s Flat Out Friday, which was held at the UWM Panther Arena. This year’s event, held at the larger BMO Harris Bradley Center, is anticipated to bring in crowds of 10,000. Read More
